If you're passing by this town, SLOW DOWN and have a look around. We visited Washington Georgia while visiting friends who recently moved to the area. There is a plethora of things to see and do. Small, quaint shops, more history than you can shake a stick at and architecture that harkens back a 100 years. The folk in town are easy going country folk, with a desirous pace of life.

This review is really about the annual Washington-Wilkes Tour of Homes. The three of us who came from south Georgia again this year had a great day. The homes on display were outstandingly beautiful, and their owners were understandably very proud of them. The complementary transportation provided by the Kiwanis Club and other volunteers was such a help, too. A driver took us to the first house we visited and from there it was an easy walk to nearly every other place on the tour. We even discovered a distant cousin at the library.

I've traveled in 45 states and overseas and this was my first visit to Washington, GA I can't say enough good about how friendly everyone was everywhere we went. I stayed here for 3 nights and got to see all of the museums, did a tour of homes for Christmas and visited all of the shops and ate at a number of their establishments. Great little town for a nice get away.
