Boyd Cottage

This late Victorian frame house was built on property from the estate of Robert Toombs, having been purchased in 1887. The 0.31 acre lot was purchased by RA Almand (several variations of spelling) in 1892 and the house built in the same year, originally consisting of a parlor, dining room, central hall and two bedrooms. Construction timbers are of South Georgia yellow pine and inside doors of maple, three of which have been removed (storage in attic) to provide better access throughout the living spaces. Several transfers of ownership have resulted in significant upgrades and additions, including bedrooms, bathrooms, sun room, kitchen and pantry, dual heat pumps, tankless water heater and exquisite double mantels in the dining room and parlor spaces.  Ownership included Frank Lee-1925, CC Bentley-1948, William Boyd (vicar of Episcopal Church adjacent to house)-1988 and Frank and Barbara Fulbright-2019. Ceilings are 13.5 feet high and a spandrel in the central hall captures the elegance of this era in Georgia history. The house became affectionately known as the Boyd Cottage. Current owners, Joe and Linda Smith, purchased the property in February 2023, having retired from medical professions in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
